Etsy lets you create shop sections for your Etsy shop through both your listings and the listings page. These shop listings help organize your items into categories on your Etsy shop. These categories make it easier for shoppers to find the items they are looking.

Etsy shop sections are categories you use to organize products on your Etsy shop. This organization helps shoppers locate different types of items within your shop. You can find a store’s shop sections on the left side of their store page beneath the search bar. 

There are some limitations to Etsy shop sections, however. 

First, you cannot have more than 20 custom shop sections. Your shop will always have the All shop section, and all your items will appear there. This limit does not include the All shop section.

Second, your shop section’s names cannot be longer than 24 characters.

Third, if you make a shop section and do not give it any listings, it will not show up in your shop.

Forth, only your active listings will appear in your shop sections.

Lastly, your listings can only be in one shop section, excluding the all shop section.

To get to your Etsy shop sections, you need to log into Etsy. After that, navigate to your listings page. Once on this page, there are a few ways to make, edit, or delete your shop sections.

How to create an Etsy shop section through a listing

The first way to create an Etsy shop section is through an Etsy listing. To do this, open a listing and scroll down to the section area. It is located right after where you enter your product’s description.

To add a shop section, click the dropdown box in the sections area, then click add a shop section. Selecting this opens up a new dialog box.

In this box, you type the name of the new shop section you want to create. Once entered, click save. This method automatically assigns your listing to the new shop section.

You have successfully created a shop section through a listing. Now let’s examine how to change them through a listing.

How to change an Etsy listing’s shop section through a listing

To change an Etsy listing’s shop section, open a listing and scroll down to the section area. It is located right after where you enter your product’s description.

To change the listings shop section, click the dropdown box, then select the new shop section from the list.

How to delete an Etsy shop section through a listing

As of writing this article, you cannot delete an Etsy shop section through a listing.

How to create an Etsy shop section with a listing

There are two ways to make shop sections on the listings page. The first method is through one of your listing previews. To do this, find the listing you want to assign, click the gear icon, then click the change section option.

Doing this opens up the change section dialogue box. To create a new listing, click manage sections.

Clicking this opens the manage sections dialogue box. Click add section. In the new dialogue box, type in your section’s name and click save. With that complete, you have created a new shop section. Creating a shop section using this method does not automatically assign your listing to said shop section.

How to change an Etsy listing’s shop section with a listing

To change an Etsy listing’s shop section, find the listing you want to change shop sections, click the gear icon, then click the change section option.

Doing this opens up the change section dialogue box. To change the listing’s shop section, click the dropdown box, then select the shop section. Once complete, click apply.

How to delete an Etsy shop section with a listing

The process for deleting an Etsy shop section with a listing is the same as creating one until you arrive at the manage sections dialogue box. Instead of clicking add section, you hover over the shop section you want to delete, then click the pencil icon.

Clicking this opens the edit dialogue box. To delete the shop section, click the delete section button.

How to create an Etsy shop section through the listings page

The last method of creating an Etsy shop section is also through the listings page. However, you use the sections section. You can find this section on the right side of the page. To start, click on the manage button.

Clicking this opens the manage sections dialogue box. Click add section. In the new dialogue box, type in your section’s name and click save. With that complete, you have created a new shop section. This method does not automatically assign your listing to the new shop section.

How to delete an Etsy shop section through the listings page

The process for deleting an Etsy shop section through the listings page is the same as creating one until you arrive at the manage sections dialogue box. Instead of clicking add section, you hover over the shop section you want to delete, then click the pencil icon.
